Biography
Getting his start in the New York comedy scene, Dave Chappelle gained notoriety touring the local club circuit in the 90's before hitting it big by landing his own weekly sketch show on Comedy Central. The show turned out to be a massive success and grew to the point that he believed the success of the show was ruining his life when he subsequently turned down a $55 million contract to continue the show. Following his departure from the show, he sporadically performed infrequent stand-up comedy shows for a few years before recording multiple comedy specials for Netflix to mostly positive reviews despite pushing the boundaries.
