Comedian Joey Avery has performed in some unpredictable situations, but nothing tops his outdoor pandemic-era show in New York. While doing stand-up in a park, one of his jokes caught the attention of a homeless man, who started screaming at him. Things got tense fast.

The audience quickly shut the heckler down, forcing him to leave. Joey, feeling the moment, decided to roast the man as he walked away. That turned out to be a bad idea. Moments later, he looked to his right and saw the man sprinting at him full speed.

With no time to react, Joey dropped the mic. Just as chaos was about to unfold, a fearless Puerto Rican woman from the audience stepped in, talking trash and physically pushing the man back. According to Joey, she saved him—and might have been the real headliner that night.
