Joey Diaz and Lee Syatt Announce Return of Classic Podcast ‘The Church of What’s Happening Now’

After years of navigating Zoom's virtual landscape, comedy legend Joey Diaz is officially done with remote podcasting. This week, he announced the return of The Church of What’s Happening Now, this time as an in-person show with his longtime co-host Lee Syatt. Known for its raw, unfiltered conversations, the podcast is making a comeback to what Diaz calls the "New Testament" of the show, with fresh plans and even fresher guests. “I'm gonna burn this Zoom,” Diaz said emphatically. “It’s been like being back in the B leagues.”

Returning to an in-studio format, Diaz says he’s ready to spotlight “regular people” who offer an authenticity that often gets lost in the world of fame. With a particular disdain for superficial celebrity culture, Diaz aims to highlight guests who “don’t care about the fame or the drama” and bring real-life stories to the table. With the promise of his unapologetically genuine style, The Church of What’s Happening Now is set to rekindle its place as one of comedy’s most down-to-earth podcasts.
