Tim Dillon Jokes About Running for California Governor on Megyn Kelly Show

Tim Dillon Talks Netflix Special—and Maybe Running for Governor

While promoting his upcoming Netflix standup special, comedian Tim Dillon joined The Megyn Kelly Show and joked about a potential run for governor of California. As expected, he had thoughts.

“It’s an important place—and it’s run by complete lunatics,” Dillon said, referring to California politics. When Kelly asked if he’d ever consider getting into it himself, Dillon didn’t rule it out: “Not at the moment, but I could get bored. And if I get bored, then perhaps.”

Dillon made it clear that campaigning sounds fun. “Everyone get on the bus! World drink! Get coffee! The polls are in! Get ’em!” But actual governing? Not so much. “That’s the problem. Once you get in there and have to fix it, it becomes a real…” he trailed off, shaking his head.

He also joked that current governor Gavin Newsom might feel the same way. “Seems tough, right? He’s like, ‘This is boring,’” Dillon said, mocking the political grind.

While it’s unlikely he’s headed to Sacramento anytime soon, Dillon’s blend of chaos and commentary makes the idea surprisingly easy to imagine.
