About Comedy Bar

Looking for a place to see some top-notch, live stand-up comedy in the Toronto area? Look no further than the Comedy Bar! This popular comedy club has been serving up laughs for well over a decade and has hosted some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy. The Comedy Bar features a very diverse and ever-changing comedy lineup each week, with something sure to appeal to everyone. The club also has a bar offering a full drink menu, making it the perfect spot for an evening out. Shows run seven nights a week, so there's always something happening at the Comedy Bar!

Opened in 2008 by Gary Rideout Jr. and James Elksnitis,  the Comedy Bar has become one of the most popular comedy clubs in Toronto and is known for featuring a mix of headlining acts and the best young, up-and-coming stand-up comics. As the Comedy Bar grew, it expanded to offer a wider variety of comedic styles such as stand-up comedy, sketch comedy, alternative comedy and improv comedy. It doesn't matter how often you come, you will never see the same show twice. It didn't stop there, the Comedy Bar soared in popularity, so did the demand. In 2010, it added a second theatre, the Cabaret Room, offering a more intimate space. As the various offerings in comedic styles grew and established a following, it was only logical to start fostering the local talent as The Comedy Bar began offering comedy workshops, classes and seminars to support the community and the talent therein and allow developing comics to thrive. There is always something happening at the Comedy Bar. So, come see us, we're open 7 days of the week!

It's no surprise that with the popularity that The Comedy Bar has garnered over the years, it's been able to draw some elite talent, with the likes of Marc Maron, Janeane Garofalo and Tim Meadows gracing its stage over the years. Bringing in heavy hitters on a regular basis shows that the vision behind the scenes is dialled in, meaning you can rest assured you're in for a fantastic show during your next visit.

The club features a full bar with drinks such as beer, wine, cocktails and spirits. It opens daily at 6 pm and doesn't require a cover charge or a ticket. If you'd like to move to the stage seating area, tickets are required and oh so worth it. They can be purchased online or at the door. The bar also remains open after the show and is a great place to spot a comic having a post-show beer.

It's difficult to describe the average night at The Comedy Bar because every night is different from the next, whether it be a stand-up comedy set, an improv comedy night or a comedy workshop. What you can expect, however, is friendly staff, a load of laughs and a night to remember.

The Comedy Bar is located in downtown Toronto at 945B Bloor Street West and is accessible by TTC via the Bloor/Danforth subway line exiting at Delaware Avenue. There is also street parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.
