Tires Season 2: Bigger, Funnier, and Stacked With Stars

Posted: Jun 11th, 2025

Netflix’s hit workplace comedy Tires is back with a second season, and it’s not just a small upgrade — it’s a full-on tune-up. Shane Gillis and co-creator John McKeever returned with 12 brand new episodes, doubling the original six-episode run that started as a self-funded gamble.

From YouTube Vibes to Netflix Quality

Season 1 felt like a high-end YouTube series. Shane Gillis admitted he didn’t expect Netflix to pick it up. But now that it’s official, Season 2 looks and feels like a real show. It has sharper writing, better production, and a lot more ambition. The show quickly climbed to the number two spot on Netflix’s Top 10 after release, proving its rising popularity.

Vince Vaughn Joins the Crew

The biggest surprise this season? Vince Vaughn. Shane simply texted him and asked if he’d be in the show. Vaughn said yes immediately. He even rewrote some of his lines — adding his classic “baby” talk — and gave a real actor’s performance that impressed the entire cast. It’s clear he had fun riffing alongside comedians who usually just play exaggerated versions of themselves.

Comedians Everywhere

This season packed in even more comedy talent. Ron White plays a disgraced NASCAR driver. Joe DeRosa, H. Foley, Big Jay Oakerson, Steph Tolev, Francis Ellis, and others made appearances. Plus, the core group from Season 1 returned, continuing the vibe of a podcast group that just happens to be acting.

Scenes often feel improvised — like a real-life riff session between Shane and Chris O’Connor. And yes, Shane plays “Shane” again, while other characters, like Steve Gerben’s “Will,” at least pretend to change names.

The Writing Behind the Laughs

John McKeever is the unsung hero. He directs, edits, and helps shape every detail behind the scenes. His writing balances humor with heartfelt moments — like Shane’s love interest subplot that manages to stay funny and avoid sitcom clichés.

What’s Next for Tires?

Though a Season 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans are hopeful. The show ended its second season with enough momentum to carry forward. With its unique blend of podcast energy and sitcom storytelling, Tires has potential to become a generational comedy staple — even for viewers unfamiliar with Gillis’ stand-up or podcast work.
