Andrew Schulz Names His Comedy Mount Rushmore on Club Shay Shay
Andrew Schulz stopped by Club Shay Shay and shared his all-time comedy Mount Rushmore: Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac, and Patrice O’Neal. While discussing these legends, Schulz gave special praise to Patrice, calling him the highest level of stand-up comedy he’s ever seen.
“Rest in peace, Patrice,” Schulz said. “If you want to talk about his ability to control attention, to lure you into his thought process, and get you to take down your guard—he was a master.”
Schulz explained how audiences often watch stand-up with their defenses up, waiting for the punchline. But Patrice had a way of making people feel like they were just hanging out with him. “You’re looking at a super genius whose skill in communication was making people laugh,” Schulz said.
He also praised Patrice’s ability to set “traps” for the audience, leading them one way before dunking on them with a punchline. “To me, that’s the highest it’s ever been done,” Schulz concluded.
Patrice O’Neal’s legacy remains strong, with comedians like Schulz continuing to highlight his brilliance.
