Shane Gillis Hosts SNL Again—Just for the Love of Comedy

Shane Gillis is selling out the biggest venues in every city, so hosting SNL again isn’t about boosting his career—it’s just for the love of the game.

On Theo Von’s podcast, Theo and Ari Shaffir discussed how massive Shane has become. “I feel like Shane is the biggest guy in the world right now,” Theo said. “I don’t even know who I would compare him to... he’s like Dane Cook.” Ari agreed, saying Shane is at the level Dane was in his prime.

Even though Shane crushed the sketches, every comedian-hosted SNL episode is judged by the monologue. Like his first time, he seemed a little nervous at the start, and for some reason, they waited longer than usual to give him a mic. But by the second half, he was locked in. At this point, though, Shane Gillis has gotten so big that SNL needs him more than he needs SNL.
