Comedy Takes Center Stage at Super Bowl 59
Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans wasn’t just about football—it was a comedy takeover. From stand-up shows to award presentations and high-profile commercials, comedians played a major role throughout Super Bowl week. Big names like Shane Gillis, Bill Burr, Tony Hinchcliffe, Jeff Ross, Kevin Hart, and Nikki Glaser made their presence felt both on and off the field.
Super Bowl Week: A Full 7-Day Entertainment Event
Super Bowl week is more than just game day; it’s a full seven days of media events, interviews, and entertainment. Comedians like Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer stopped by sports media shows, appearing on Pat McAfee’s show and chatting with Rich Eisen about comedy and football. Bert even shared a hilarious story about betting on the length of the national anthem while at a Hooters in Shibuya, Japan.
Nikki Glaser had one of the most official comedy roles during Super Bowl week, presenting an award at the NFL Honors. She also cracked jokes about football legends, including a hilarious line about Rob Gronkowski’s reading habits:
"Fun fact: The Big Easy is also the kind of book Gronk likes to read."
Stand-Up Comedy Took Over New Orleans
Saturday night before the big game was a historic night for stand-up in New Orleans. The city hosted multiple comedy events, including a surprise pop-up show featuring Shane Gillis and Zach Bryan at Saturn Bar on Bourbon Street. Meanwhile, the UNO Lakefront Arena packed nearly 10,000 comedy fans for a major lineup featuring Nikki Glaser, Tony Hinchcliffe, Adam Ray, and Bert Kreischer. Special guests included Guy Fieri, Adam Devine, and NFL stars Cam Heyward and Tyreek Hill.
Comedians in Super Bowl Commercials
Super Bowl commercials are always a major part of the event, and this year’s lineup featured top comedians.
Shane Gillis finally starred in a Bud Light Super Bowl ad after signing with the brand last year.
Nate Bargatze appeared in a DoorDash commercial, showcasing his signature deadpan delivery.
Kevin Hart continued his streak, having appeared in a Super Bowl ad every year since Joe Flacco beat Colin Kaepernick. Even though he was in another ad this year, he wasn’t the focus—Tom Brady took a playful shot at him during the main broadcast, joking that the cameras actually managed to find Hart despite his height.
Tom Brady’s roast got an unexpected mention in a Duracell commercial, helping to normalize comedy on one of the biggest stages in entertainment.
Bert Kreischer & Jameis Winston: An Unexpected Duo
Bert Kreischer spent the game sitting next to Jameis Winston, and the two Florida State legends created some hilarious moments together. Their back-and-forth during the game was filled with classic Bert energy and Jameis’ unpredictable personality, making for one of the most entertaining side stories of Super Bowl Sunday.
Halftime Show Reactions Spark Online Debate
The Super Bowl halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar sparked a wave of reactions, and comedians didn’t hold back. Some loved it, while others who found it boring were instantly labeled as "racist" by online critics. Theo Von, always unafraid to speak his mind, got dragged into the debate simply for not loving the performance. Fans of Kendrick have already proven how sensitive they can be, especially after the Andrew Schulz situation, so it wasn’t surprising that this became a hot topic.
Philly Comedians Celebrate the Eagles’ Big Win
Philadelphia comedians have been on the rise in the comedy world over the past few years, and after the Eagles' win, they were out in full force celebrating. Shane Gillis, a die-hard Eagles fan, was seen partying with fans while still clutching a Bud Light—his official beer of choice.
