Does Tom Segura Have a New Career Outside of Stand-Up Comedy?

Date Posted:February 20, 2023

Is a Stand-Up Comedy and NASCAR Crossover in the Works?

In a recent episode of the “2 Bears 1 Cave” podcast, comedians Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer broadcasted live from the Daytona International Speedway in front of fans at the Daytona 500. This episode was particularly special because of their unsuspecting history with competitive racing, which started as a funny concept idea but has become more serious over time.

The duo has been talking about forming "Two Bears Racing" for over a year now, and last April, Bert gifted Tom an actual race car for his birthday. Despite the initial assumption that they were joking about the concept, it seems that they are truly passionate about the sport and have already established connections with drivers and coaches. The fact that they are getting a foot in the door with NASCAR fans also indicates that this could be a more real endeavor than initially thought.

The Daytona 500 is one of the biggest races in the world, making it the perfect venue for Tom and Bert to go live from. The comedic duo has a great sense of humor that fits well with the overall vibe of NASCAR, and this race in particular. It will be interesting to see where this journey takes them, and how the comedy world will react to their continued involvement in racing.

A Full-Length Sketch Comedy Feature is Available on Big Streaming Services

Aside from racing, independent comedy shows are also starting to gain recognition. "Gilly and Keeves: The Special" became available on streaming services Prime Video, Google Play, and AppleTV last week. The special features 10 total sketches and onstage performances from stand-up comedians Shane Gillis and John McKeever. While the special first came out last October on the Gilly and Keeves website, its availability on mainstream streaming platforms will allow it to reach a wider audience.

It is always exciting to see independent shows gain more recognition, as it provides an opportunity for them to reach new potential fans. As Shane Gillis stated, "now available for the geezers," the wider availability of "Gilly and Keeves: The Special" will hopefully help it reach a broader demographic.

The Comedy Landscape is Ever Changing

Overall, the comedy world is constantly evolving, with podcasts and independent shows gaining popularity and recognition. Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer's involvement in racing is just one example of how comedians are branching out and pursuing their passions. As more comedians continue to explore new avenues, it will be interesting to see where the future of comedy takes us.
